My grandparents are in town to help with the remodel in the basement. Yesterday was my grandma's birthday and I made her a red velvet cake. We went out to dinner then back to my mom's for cake. We always do birthdays at my parents' house so now Tay thinks every time we go there it is Happy Birthday time! So he was delighted when we got the cake out. He thought it was his birthday. Of course he had to help my grandma with the candles.
After cake we played some cards with the kids. Many times we play Shang-hai Rummy or this individual player version of spades we call Oh Hell. Tonight we played Apples to Apples - Jaden's request. Well we are all seated around the table.
Even Tay-Rex. He's sitting but not quiet, of course. Just making all kinds of noises.
So my mom who is sitting next to him says, "Shhh be quiet Tay."
He looks at her and says, "Huh?"
"Shhh, be quiet.... the baby is sleeping." There is no baby - she just ad-libs that part. haha
Tay looks at her like she grew another head and says:
"What the hell?"
The grandparents all look at me, confused. I said, "Yes he just said what you think he said."
They were still confused. I heard it plain as day but they aren't used to hearing toddler speak everyday. I repeated what he said and of course so did he. They heard it that time!
Everyone got a good laugh about that one. We need to watch what we say around that little sponge!
